Quilty stuff

I'm starting a new quilt top tonight. The pattern is Quill by Amy Ellis (@amyscreativeside).

The pattern has a warm (shown) and cool (blues and greens) version. Amy had a picture of the cool version on her Instagram, and I absolutely loved it and ordered the kit. While it looks complicated, I feel sure I can have the top pieced this weekend. The fabrics are Grunge by BasicGrey for Moda. I've been wanting to use these, so now I'm getting the chance. The throw size finishes at 56"x72". And it's mostly blue. Perfect.

I have the squares cut and am ready to start sewing. I'll post again when I have the top completed.

I've also got a top ready to send to the amazing Abby Latimer (@alatimer) for quilting.

I just love this quilt top. The pattern is Jellyroll Railway by Fat Quarter Shop, and the fabric Kona cotton.

I love winter and cold weather. I live in the complete wrong part of the country for that. It was 102° this afternoon. It makes me a little sad just to say that. Making Christmas quilts is therapy in this heat. I could have quilted it at the library, but since I'm limited to pretty basic FMQ there, I'm sending it to Abby because I want this one to be a little more special. I have this vision of my three sweet grandboys all snuggled under Christmas quilts waiting for Santa to visit in this awesome grandkids playroom that I don't have. Maybe someday.

I love the backing almost as much as I do the front, but I'll wait to show that until I get it back.

For now, I'll work on the Quill quilt. Have a great weekend!

Peace out,
